Die Maker/Machinist/ and Tool Occupations
Tool, machinists, and die cast makers are part of the same industry. The growing percentage of these jobs remains stable, and grows at an average pace. Work hours for these types of workers is regular business hours but overtime can be common. Working at night can also occur because facilities can operate 24 hours a day. High demand for these types of workers are where mass production, steel production and factories are located. For instance, in the northern area of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania have high steel manufacturing and automobile factories. Technology is ever changing to this industry. Some die casters are now using CAD to create products and parts. No longer are die casters using their hands to move objects but using computers and science to make these machines work. CAD and CAM are a popular new way to help die casters. Qualities a die caster must have are manual dexterity, physical stamina, technical skills and computer application experience.
